Before
you can adopt a pet, we will require proof of address. If you
do not rent, bring proof of home ownership with you. If you do rent
in Marathon County, a signed letter of consent from your landlord
will be needed. It is a real shame when a pet is returned or abandoned
because a renter was not supposed to have pets.
There are several other things to consider before you adopt. The humane
society does want to find homes for all the animals we receive, however,
we want to find permanent and loving homes for them. That means
we do our best to ensure a pet isn't returned because the person giving
it a home didn't think this through completely.
